China’s First Batch of Dried Fish Bladders Imported from Uganda via Changsha Airport
On December 31, 2024, a shipment of 1,084 kilograms of dried fish bladders from wild Nile perch in Uganda arrived at Changsha Huanghua International Airport. After inspection by Changsha Huanghua Airport Customs, the shipment successfully entered the Chinese market on the same day.
According to an announcement by the General Administration of Customs of China, Uganda’s wild aquatic products that meet relevant requirements have been permitted for import into China since October 9, 2024. This batch of dried fish bladders is the first to be imported from Uganda following the announcement, marking a new milestone in China-Africa agricultural and food trade cooperation.
Previously, Changsha Airport has been the first in the nation to import high-quality African agricultural and food products, such as Kenyan anchovies and dried sea cucumbers, further enriching the domestic market demand.
Statistics from Changsha Customs show that for the first 11 months of 2024, Hunan Province's imports from Africa amounted to 22.13 billion CNY, marking a year-on-year growth of 59.1%. Within this total, the import of agricultural products accounted for 380 million CNY, representing a 16.2% increase from the previous year.
